The security of visiting passengers and cruise ships is of paramount importance.

Here at the Port of Halifax, we are prepared. Security features include:

Port Security

  • Cruise Ship Facility Security Plans, developed following the Canadian Marine Transportation Security Regulations fully addresses the ISPS code
  • Dedicated on-site Halifax Regional Police department detachment
  • New Command and Control System providing 24-hour water and land area surveillance supported by mobile patrols of port facilities
  • Only Canadian port with dedicated police services employed on-site
  • Waterborne police patrols of the cruise vessel berthing areas
  • Restricted access zones surrounding the ship’s berth monitored via the Command and Control system
  • A Cruise Ship Coordinator fully qualified as a Facility Security Officer in accordance with the ISPS Code and the Canadian Marine Transportation Security Regulations
